Healthcare system

In case you need to see a doctor after the opening hours of your nearest healtcare center call this number: +358 116117

They will guide you to the nearest hospital if needed.

During evenings and weekends, urgent cases are usually treated at the emergency department, such as Peijas Hospital.

In a life-threatening emergency, call 112 immediately.

If you need a doctor while in Finland, in short:
  • Mon-Fri 8 AM–4 PM: contact your local health centre (see above)
  • After 4 PM: call +358 116 117
  • Urgent cases: Go to the emergency department (e.g. Peijas Hospital)
  • Emergency: call 112
